AFIR made ISO 15118-2 compulsory on 8 January 2026. Germany's federal registry lists 1 018 of 31 865 public charge points as Plug&Charge-capable, Ionity declares one site out of 61, and a relay attack on the standard lands at USENIX this year. Meanwhile Autocharge, which has none of the security, keeps working.

Europe's charging network survived July. 145 sites didn't.
